Visit Kankai Mai Jhapa

Jhapa is one of the most ethnically diverse district in Nepal, home of more than 110 ethnic groups some of them are Bhramins, chhetris, Rajbhansi,sataar, etc. Most of the people in this district are Hindus who are fully devoted to their gods and goddess. With being culturally rich it is also a home of so many Hindus temples and Holy rivers, where so many Hindus devotees from around the world comes in this district. Temples and rivers like Arjundhara, Satashidham, Kichakbadh, Kankai river, etc are one of the major holiest sites in Jhapa district.

About Kankai Dham

Kankai Dham is one of the holiest site not only in Jhapa but also of whole Nepal. This site is located in the bank of Kankai Mai river. Hindus devotees from around the world visits this temple to seek blessing. It is believed that the wish of those devotees who seek blessing from goddess is fulfilled. Kankai river is one of the holiest river over here in Nepal. This river is one of the tributaries of Ganga river.
It is the biggest river in Jhapa diatrict, it is really beautiful to sea the local fisherman fishing and children taking bath in this river. Millions of devotees around the world visit over here in annual Mai mela which occurs on magh 1. It has the one of the longest bridge which is 702 meter long.

Location

It is located in Kankai Municipality of Jhapa district. Through air It will take you around 45 minutes from Kathmandu airport to reach Bhadrapur airport and 40 minutes to reach holy sites from Bhadrapur airport by vehicles. Or else it will take you around 10 to 15 minutes to reach this Dham from the Jhapa's biggest city Birtamode by vehicles.

Surunga is a place situated in Kankai Municipality is one of the biggest town of Jhapa district.There are lots of hotels and lodges in Surunga area so, Kankai municipality doesn't disappoint you for its accommodation.  In case if you are not satisfied with hotels and lodges, 10 to 15 minutes ride to the east you can reach a biggest city of Jhapa district Birtamode. In Birtamode you an easily find star rated hotels and lodges with an appropriate price rate.

CLIMATIC CONDITION

Kankai river is one of the biggest river of Nepal. During rainy season this site experience a huge rain fall, so there are huge chances of flood. And the temperature during summer season in here reaches upto 40 degree celcious. So if you want to avoid hot summer and floody river you can visit this site from October to March. Also this site witness one of a Nepal's biggest mela on the first of magh, so try not to miss this biggest fare.
